An American national was arrested after allegedly attempting to strike responding police officers while refusing to settle his hotel accommodation charges in Quezon City on Wednesday.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested 55-year-old alias “James” at a hotel in Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City.

Reports from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) showed that the suspect checked into the hotel on July 18, 2026, and stayed in Room 371 on the third floor until Wednesday, 5 August.

According to CIDU, hotel management discovered that the foreign national had allegedly failed to pay his outstanding accommodation bill, prompting them to seek assistance from Barangay Ramon Magsaysay officials and later from the Project 6 Police Station.

“Upon arrival, the responding officers repeatedly knocked on the suspect’s room, but alias ‘James’ shouted profanities, disturbed other hotel guests, and repeatedly struck the door from inside,” the CIDU report stated.

“Due to his aggressive behavior and continued refusal to open the door, the responding police officers, with the consent of hotel management, forcibly opened the room,” it added.

Alias “James” allegedly continued shouting and attempted to strike the officers with a wooden object, leading to his arrest at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The foreign national is facing complaints for alleged violations of Article 155 (Alarms and Scandals) and Article 151 (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority or Their Agents) of the Revised Penal Code before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

“We commend the swift coordination among the hotel management, barangay officials, and our responding police officers in resolving the incident peacefully,” QCPD District Director Police Brigadier General Randy Glenn Silvio said.

“We also remind all foreign nationals to respect Philippine laws, fulfill their obligations, and conduct themselves responsibly while staying in our country,” he added.
