Three sold-out performances have fueled demand for "El Fuego del Alma," the Filipino adaptation of Tennessee Williams' "Summer and Smoke," as Porvenir continues its 2026 run at Sine Pop in Cubao, Quezon City.

Porvenir's first full-length stage production has steadily expanded its audience since opening on 17 July.
One performance sold out during the first week, followed by two sold-out performances in Week 2 as audience recommendations drove ticket sales.
Written by Eljay Castro Deldoc and directed by Mark Mirando, El Fuego del Alma reimagines Tennessee Williams' 1948 play Summer and Smoke in a provincial Philippine setting.
The psychological drama follows Alma Ortega, a woman caught between deep religious conviction and long-suppressed desire. Like Williams' original work, the adaptation explores love, faith, family expectations and the struggle between spiritual ideals and earthly passions.
Porvenir stages the production in an intimate found-space setting at Sine Pop, where audiences sit only a few feet from the performers.
The production features an alternating cast led by Sandino Martin and Vincent Pajara as Juanito. Nour Hooshmand, Hariette Mozelle and Opaline Santos alternate as Alma Ortega. The lead actors also switch into the roles of Archie and Rosa on alternate performances.
The ensemble includes Madeleine Nicolas, Rolando Inocencio, Sheryll Ceasico, JP Lopez, Janna Cortes, Ingrid Villamarin (Ingrid Joyce), Johnny Maglinao and Tristan Bite.
Many theatergoers have returned to watch both the Day and Night versions of the play. Although the story remains the same, each version offers a distinct emotional atmosphere.
Porvenir even started offering a discount on a second ticket for patrons who have already watched the production.
El Fuego del Alma continues its run on 31 July 31 and 1–2 Aug., with final performances scheduled for 21–23 August, at Sine Pop, Cubao, Quezon City.
