ILOILO CITY — At least 435 residents from 109 families have been preemptively evacuated in Iloilo City as Tropical Cyclone Kiyapo continues to bring heavy rains, prompting authorities to place several flood-prone communities under heightened monitoring.

Based on the 2 p.m. situation report of the Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center (EOC), the evacuees came from six barangays across four districts following preemptive evacuation orders issued after pre-disaster risk assessments.

Of the total number of evacuees, 156 individuals from 52 families are currently staying in three evacuation centers located in Barangay Calubihan in Jaro, Barangay Don Esteban in Lapuz, and Barangay Ticud in La Paz.

The remaining affected families from Barangay San Vicente in Jaro and Barangays San Antonio and Infante in Molo have either sought temporary shelter with relatives or are being closely monitored by local authorities.

To support the displaced families, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has prepositioned 2,000 family food packs, while an additional 1,691 family food boxes from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VI are on standby. Hygiene kits, sleeping kits, kitchen kits, and modular tents have also been prepared for possible deployment.

Meanwhile, the city's Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team rescued and evacuated a pregnant woman from Barangay Calubihan, while emergency transport services were deployed to assist affected commuters.

The Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center remains under Blue Alert, with disaster response teams on full readiness as authorities continue to monitor weather conditions and the possibility of additional evacuations.

Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas have been advised to remain vigilant and immediately heed evacuation orders to ensure their safety.
