  • Marcos orders immediate rehabilitation of Zambales barangay hit by August monsoon rains.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the immediate rehabilitation of key infrastructure in Barangay Sta. Fe in San Marcelino, Zambales, which was isolated from the rest of the municipality after heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon in August.

Marcos visited Barangay Sta. Fe on 2 September 2026, accompanied by Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon, Education Secretary Sonny Angara, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., and Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

The President and his Cabinet officials were welcomed by Zambales Gov. Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr., Rep. Jay Khonghun, and Rep. Bing Maniquiz.

During his meeting with local officials, Marcos said he had ordered the immediate repair of the barangay's dike, Sta. Fe National High School, and barangay hall. He also directed the construction of a new bridge to replace the barangay's old steel bridge.

As part of his visit, Marcos inspected 12 of the 26 classrooms at Sta. Fe National High School that were damaged by the Southwest Monsoon. He ordered the immediate rehabilitation of the affected facilities to ensure the safety of the school's 132 students when classes resume.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development also distributed food packs, hygiene kits, and P10,000 in cash assistance to around 1,000 families in the barangay under its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

San Marcelino Mayor Elvis Ragadio Soria thanked Marcos for personally checking on the condition of residents and for providing assistance to families affected by the calamity.
