A 36-year-old South Korean tourist was taken into police custody Saturday night after he was placed under citizen's arrest by condominium security personnel for physically assaulting his Filipino live-in partner.
The incident occurer at around 6 p.m. on 11 July 2026 inside a condominium unit along Roxas Boulevard Service Road, Barangay 7, Pasay City.
Initial investigation disclosed that the 26-year-old female complainant ran down to the condominium lobby to seek assistance from the security guard on duty, reporting that she had just been physically assaulted inside their unit.
The victim stated that the suspect repeatedly slapped her and forced her to kneel on the floor.
The duty security guard, accompanied by a fellow watchman, immediately proceeded to the 37th floor unit to verify the situation. Upon their arrival, the victim positively identified her live-in partner as the assailant.
Given the immediate threat and the visible manifestation of the complaint, the security personnel promptly effected a lawful citizen's arrest against the suspect.
The arrested individual was identified only by the alias Hyun, a South Korean national staying in the country as a tourist.
Responding police elements subsequently took custody of the suspect and transported him to Pasay City Police Substation 1 for initial booking.
Follow-up documentation revealed that the complainant and the suspect had been in a relationship for about a year, during which the victim had allegedly endured multiple unreported instances of physical abuse. Due to the severity of the latest assault, the victim decided to press formal charges.
The suspect has been turned over to the station's specialized unit.
The case has been referred to the Pasay City Police Station's Women and Children Protection Desk for comprehensive documentation prior to formal inquest proceedings before the Pasay City Prosecutor's Office.
