Authorities intercepted a localized drug distribution activity in Taguig City on Monday night, resulting in the arrest of a newly identified street-level drug suspect, the rescue of a 15-year-old child in conflict with the law, and the confiscation of more than 51 grams of suspected shabu.
The adult suspect will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation took place around 7:40 p.m. along Cattleya Street, Barangay Rizal, Taguig City. Operatives from the Taguig City Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit conducted a buy-bust operation using a poseur-buyer, which led to the successful arrest of the adult suspect and the rescue of the minor.
Police confiscated one heat-sealed plastic sachet of suspected shabu used in the drug transaction. A subsequent search also yielded seven more heat-sealed plastic sachets and one large knot-tied transparent plastic containing suspected shabu concealed inside a gray belt bag.
The total confiscated suspected shabu weighed approximately 51.39 grams, with an estimated standard drug price of P349,452.
The arrested adult suspect was identified only by his alias June, 36, a newly identified street-level drug individual.
Also rescued during the operation was a 15-year-old male child in conflict with the law. He was turned over to the Bahay Pag-asa facility for appropriate intervention and psychosocial services.
Meanwhile, the adult suspect remains in police custody pending the filing of appropriate charges. The confiscated drug evidence will be submitted to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination. NEIL ALCOBER
