The Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region 1 has completed a two-day Free Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) for aspiring motorists in four district offices across the Ilocos Region as part of its road safety education program.
The training was held on 4-5 July at the LTO district offices in Alaminos, Bayambang, Rosales, and San Ildefonso.
The course, a mandatory requirement for applicants seeking a Student Driver's Permit, covered traffic laws and regulations, road signs and markings, defensive driving, road courtesy, and the responsibilities of motorists under existing transportation laws.
According to LTO Region 1, offering the course free of charge helps make driver education more accessible while equipping future motorists with the knowledge and discipline needed to become responsible road users.
Regional Director Glorioso Daniel Z. Martinez and Assistant Regional Director Eric C. Suriben said the initiative forms part of the agency's continuing efforts to strengthen road safety awareness and improve access to government services across the region.
The activity was conducted under the guidance of the Department of Transportation and the LTO Central Office as part of the agency's ongoing campaign to promote responsible driving and compliance with traffic laws.
LTO Region 1 said it will continue rolling out similar programs to expand access to driver education and encourage safer road use throughout the region.
