SPEEd unveils technical nominees for 9th Eddys

The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) has announced the nominees for the technical categories of the 9th Eddys, recognizing the filmmakers and creative professionals whose work helped shape some of the year's most acclaimed Filipino films.
The winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on 5 July at the Ceremonial Hall of Newport World Resorts in Pasay City.
The latest batch of nominations honors achievements in sound, musical score, movie theme song, visual effects, editing, production design and cinematography.
For Best Sound, the nominees are Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, Journeyman, Manila's Finest, Quezon and Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins.
The Best Musical Score category includes Kontrabida Academy, Manila's Finest, Quezon, Salvageland, Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins and Sunshine.
Competing for Best Movie Theme Song are "Tala" from Call Me Mother; "Batas ng Api" from Kontrabida Academy; "Sandalan" from Manila's Finest; "Kumpas" from Meet, Greet & Bye; and "Jack en Poy" from Quezon.
The Best Visual Effects nominees are Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, Habang Nilalamon ng Hydra ang Kasaysayan, I'm Perfect, Magellan, Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins and Sunshine.
For Best Editing, the nominees are Bar Boys: After School, Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, Journeyman, Quezon, Sunshine and UnMarry.
The Best Production Design category features Journeyman, Kontrabida Academy, Magellan, Manila's Finest, Quezonand Salvageland.
Rounding out the technical awards, the Best Cinematography nominees are Eraserheads: Combo on the Run, Kontrabida Academy, Quezon, Salvageland and Sunshine.
Several films earned multiple nominations across the technical categories, highlighting the breadth of craftsmanship behind this year's strongest entries in Philippine cinema.
