The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized around P800,000 worth of substandard consumer products during an operation in Barangay Melojavilla, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on 4 February 2026.
Operatives from the CIDG Nueva Ecija Provincial Field Unit implemented a search warrant for violations of Republic Act No. 7394, or the Consumer Act of the Philippines, specifically Article 10 (Injurious, Dangerous, and Unsafe Products), Article 18 (Prohibited Acts), and Article 77 (Minimum Labeling Requirements for Consumer Products).
The operation resulted in the arrest of two male suspects and the confiscation of alleged substandard consumer goods, including 50 units of LED multifunctional lithium lamp tubes and 80 units of assorted audio speakers, with an estimated total value of P800,000.
The suspects, identified only by the aliases “Cholo” and “Oscar,” are both of legal age and residents of Cabanatuan City. Authorities said they were caught in possession and control of consumer products that lacked the minimum labeling requirements prescribed by the Department of Trade and Industry–Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS).
The arrested individuals are now facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 7394, while the confiscated items have been taken into police custody for proper disposition.
