Baguio goes smart with BIMP+ App

Baguio City is stepping up its digital game with the launch of Baguio In My Pocket Plus (BIMP+) and the ongoing expansion of its Open Data Portal. The move is aimed at making city services more accessible and promoting transparency for residents, visitors, and local innovators.

The Management Information and Technology Division (MITD) described BIMP+ as an upgraded, in-house version of the original city app. It centralizes public services and gives users a single platform to access government information and tools for civic engagement.

The Open Data Portal, meanwhile, provides key information on infrastructure projects, budgets, health statistics, and traffic data. Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the initiative encourages accountability and evidence-based planning while fostering greater public participation.

According to MITD Head Francis Camarao, BIMP+ works as a two-way communication channel between the city government and the public. The app integrates systems such as the Baguio Medical Record System and the Sangguniang Panlungsod Legislative Management System. It also includes features for civic engagement, including virtual town halls and public forums that let residents interact directly with officials.

Beyond administrative services, BIMP+ also offers practical tools for safety and finance. Users can report emergencies to 911 with GPS locations and photos, check real-time traffic updates, access a lost-and-found network, and handle business permits and property taxes through a digital citizen ID with a dynamic QR code.

Designed for residents, tourists, and visitors, BIMP+ is already available on Google Play, with an Apple App Store version coming soon. City officials say this digital upgrade is a key step in Baguio’s smart governance strategy, combining service delivery, transparency, and public safety in one convenient platform.
