Two dead, two hurt in Dagupan explosion

Two people died while two others were injured as a huge explosion was reported in Sitio Boquig at Barangay Bacayao Norte in the City of Dagupan, Pangasinan on 25 December.

According to the Dagupan City Government Information Office, the explosion was reported by residents at around 7:49 p.m. on Christmas evening.

The Bureau of Fire Protection Dagupan led by Chief Jun Eland Wanawan, PNP Dagupan led by Chief Orly Pagaduan, CDRRMO led by Chief Ronaldo De Guzman, and the PANDA Volunteer Fire Brigade and DECORP immediately responded to the scene.

Initial reports stated that two people were killed while two others were injured and immediately taken to the nearest hospital. An investigation is currently being conducted to determine the cause of the explosion.

Mayor Belen Fernandez and Vice Mayor Bryan Kua went to the scene and conducted immediate action along with the agencies on the area, ensuring close coordination while the investigation is on going.

“Dalawang buhay ang nawala ngayong Pasko. Ito ay isang trahedyang hindi dapat nangyari. Matagal nang malinaw ang paninindigan natin. Buhay ay ingatan. Paputok ay iwasan. Walang kasiyahan ang paputok kung kapalit ay buhay ng tao. Paiigtingin natin ang pagpapatupad ng batas. Walang kompromiso sa kaligtasan ng bawat Dagupeño. Ako'y sobrang nalulungkot,” Mayor Belen said.
