PANGASINAN — A large sea turtle, locally known as a pawikan, was found dead along the shoreline of Barangay Buenlag in Binmaley, Pangasinan, on 9 July.
Personnel from the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office discovered the carcass at around 7 a.m. The marine reptile was estimated to weigh between 80 and 100 kilograms.
The sea turtle was turned over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Binmaley. It was later transported to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources office in Bonuan, Dagupan City, for examination and documentation.
The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office was also notified of the incident.
