The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has seized 10 loose firearms and arrested two suspects during an operation at Barangay San Vicente in the town of Concepcion, Tarlac on 5 December.

The said operation is in relation with the CIDG’s OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA, a campaign against loose firearms and private armed group (PAG).

The operation was conducted by the CIDG together with Special Action Force, Police Regional Office 3, MIG 3, Philippine Army who simultaneously implemented three Search Warrants for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) against spouses Congressman “Bong” and “Eve”; and Engr. “Nilo” in Barangay San Vicente, Concepcion, Tarlac.

This resulted in the arrest of two suspects, and the confiscation of ten units of alleged loose firearms including one light weapon, a caliber 5.56 Bushmaster rifle with suppressor; four caliber 9mm pistols; two caliber 40; one caliber 45; one caliber 22; one 12 gauge shotgun; nine magazines; and assorted live ammunition.

The two arrested suspects are identified as Gene, the son-in- law of Congressman Bong; and Jaime, the security guard of the lawmaker.

The two are both male, legal age, and are other occupants of the subject of the Search Warrant.

They were caught while in possession and in control of a total of three firearms with expired license and permit.

The said police operation underscores the unyielding stance of the CIDG in accounting and confiscation of loose firearms.
