Movem makes electric mobility part of everyday life

Electric mobility has evolved rapidly — moving beyond vehicle preferences, availability and accessibility. Today, with more electric vehicles (EV) in the market, an entire ecosystem — one that considers how people live, work, shop, and go on about their daily routines — is also growing.

As more Filipinos shift to more sustainable transportation, the supporting infrastructure and practical mobility solutions have become tantamount to making the transition more convenient and accessible.

Movem Electric Inc., the wholly-owned end-to-end electric mobility solutions provider of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco), is working with property developers, businesses and communities to build the infrastructure needed to support the EV ecosystem.

Movem recently partnered with Filinvest Malls to support the EV charging experience at Festival Mall in Muntinlupa City, bringing together electric mobility, technology and sustainable infrastructure in one solution.

Located at the mall’s Alabang-Zapote (A-Z) parking area, the facility combines EV charging with a digital advertising platform, allowing users to charge their vehicles while providing brands and businesses with another platform to reach customers.

The setup reflects how charging infrastructure can be integrated into places people already frequent, improving customers’ mall experience.

For EV users, the facility is supported by ChargeM, Movem’s mobile application that allows them to access and manage their charging sessions. The combination of physical charging infrastructure and digital technology is designed to make the charging experience more convenient and seamless.

The partnership also extends beyond Festival Mall as Movem is set to support Filinvest’s broader EV requirements across its commercial, residential and office developments as the property developer prepares its portfolio for increasing EV adoption.

But electric mobility is not limited to private vehicles as it can also reshape how communities move.

In Barangay Bel-Air in Makati City, Movem recently turned over two fully electric shuttles to provide residents with a cleaner and quieter transportation option within the community.

Each shuttle can accommodate up to 14 passengers and travel up to 150 kilometers on a single charge. The units also feature faster charging turnaround and enhanced safety and comfort features.

For Barangay Bel-Air, the deployment is part of efforts to provide a more convenient mode of transportation for residents, including senior citizens, while supporting the community’s sustainability goals.

Movem will also support the barangay’s broader EV charging requirements through the establishment of the infrastructure and support systems needed to sustain its transition to electric mobility.

The two initiatives highlight how EV solutions can take different forms depending on how communities and properties are used.

At Festival Mall, charging infrastructure becomes part of the experience of people who shop, work and spend time at the mall. In Barangay Bel-Air, electric vehicles serve a more direct transportation need within a residential community.

Both, however, point to the same requirement: EV adoption needs an ecosystem of vehicles, charging infrastructure, digital tools and support services.

And Movem aims to play a broader role in this ecosystem by working with property developers, businesses, local governments and communities to make electric mobility more accessible and practical.

As EV adoption grows in the Philippines, bringing charging infrastructure and electric transport closer to where people live, work and travel can help make the shift to cleaner mobility part of everyday life.
