ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) convened the Iloilo Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) via Zoom for an emergency pre-disaster risk assessment (PDRA) meeting as Tropical Cyclone “Wilma” moves closer to the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The provincial government has prepositioned relief goods, medical supplies, and logistics support across strategic locations in anticipation of the storm’s impact.
According to PAGASA, Wilma is expected to bring 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall over Iloilo beginning tomorrow noon until Saturday afternoon. The forecast raises the possibility of localized flooding, especially in urban, low-lying, and coastal barangays. Landslides may also occur in areas classified as highly susceptible in existing geohazard maps.
PDRRMO Chief Cornelio Salinas said the PDRA aims to ensure timely coordination among key agencies and LGUs, allowing for early deployment of resources and immediate mobilization should weather conditions worsen.
The PDRRMO continues to monitor updates as Iloilo braces for the effects of the incoming weather disturbance.
