Some couples regard a public marriage proposal as romantic. A pair in China decided to do it during the concert of a folk singer at the Beijing National Stadium last 12 September.
As tens of thousands of fans sang along with performer Zhao Lei, a man in the front section stood up to propose to his partner, South China Morning Post (SCMP) reports.
Viral videos of the proposal circulating online showed a woman in a white wedding dress and a veil standing up and waving her arms towards the stage, according to SCMP.
Not all were amused at the scene though, particularly the spectators behind the couple. As the pair blocked the view of the stage, the audience started shouting “sit down!”
The video garnered over 110 million views on Chinese social media platforms, SCMP reports.
There were also many comments criticizing the couple for obstructing the view of concertgoers who were not interested in “witnessing some strangers’ personal celebration.”
For a Filipino couple in Hagonoy, Bulacan, however, they elicited cheers during their church wedding on 1 September.
A guest recorded Gilbert Chico and Liean Liza Galang’s nuptials from the choir loft of the St. John the Baptist church, New York Post (NYP) and Viral Press report.
The video showed the bride resplendent in a white wedding dress, walking down the aisle unmindful of the waist-deep floodwater. The bride’s parents, also wet from the waist down, met her in the front pew and escorted her to the altar where her groom and the priest were waiting.
Equally soaked photographers were shooting the couple, whose wedding coincided with the monsoon dumping heavy rain on Luzon for days and flooding many areas of Bulacan and neighboring provinces.
The couple did not want to reschedule their wedding and the officiating priest relented.
It looked like all’s well that ends wet.
