The Rizal Police Provincial Office responded swiftly on Saturday morning to an incident along Main Street, Sitio Mata, Barangay Palangoy, Binangonan, Rizal, involving a senior citizen who was locked inside a residence with children present.
The complainant, Erlinda Yacap, 67, reported that the suspect, identified only by the alias Christopher, also a senior citizen, suddenly entered her home searching for a knife while claiming that unknown individuals were trying to kill him.
Fearing for her safety, she stepped outside and locked the door to contain the suspect, then immediately contacted the Binangonan Municipal Police Station for urgent assistance.
The Binangonan Municipal Police Station responded without delay. Upon assessment, officers confirmed that the suspect—who was reportedly suffering from dementia and experiencing sleeplessness—was locked inside the house along with children on the second floor.
Recognizing the high-risk nature of the situation, the Rizal police elevated the response to prioritize the immediate safety of the minors.
Upon receiving the report, Rizal police provincial director P/Col. Feloteo Gonzalgo issued direct orders for rapid mobilization and personally supervised the rescue operation, ensuring all responding units acted with precision, urgency, and coordination.
