Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo administered the oath of four newly appointed justices to the Court of Appeals (CA) and the Sandiganbayan during a ceremony at the Supreme Court en banc session hall in Manila.
Gesmundo administered the oath to Court of Appeals Associate Justices Robert Victor Consunji Marcon and Snooky Maria Ana C. Bareno-Sagayo, and Sandiganbayan Associate Justices Hans Chester Tiu Nocom and Fritz Bryn Anthony Makasiar Delos Santos.
CA Associate Justice Marcon fills the vacancy created by the appointment of Fernanda C. Lampas Peralta as CA presiding justice. A graduate of San Beda College of Law, Marcon previously served as presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court in Lucena City and later of the Family Court in Makati City.
CA Associate Justice Bareno-Sagayo succeeds Jacinto G. Fajardo Jr., who retired earlier this year. Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Nocom fills the position vacated by Bernelito R. Fernandez. A Far Eastern University law graduate, Nocom previously worked as a prosecutor in the Department of Justice and as a special counsel at the Manila City Office of the City Prosecutor.
Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Delos Santos assumes the post opened by the promotion of Geraldine Faith A. Econg as the anti-graft court’s presiding justice. He earned his law degree from the University of San Carlos and his Master of Laws from Cornell University in New York. His previous roles include serving as a court attorney at both the Supreme Court and the CA, and working as an associate solicitor in the Office of the Solicitor General.
