Army chief assures support for wounded soldiers

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Philippine Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio Nafarrete assured full support Friday for nine people injured in a severe military vehicle accident in Omar, Sulu, who remain hospitalized in Zamboanga City.
Nafarrete personally visited the eight soldiers and one civilian who sustained serious injuries in the rollover incident. The victims were hurt when an M-35 Army truck reportedly experienced a sudden mechanical failure in Barangay Angilan, Omar municipality.
The injured soldiers belong to the Army’s 101st Infantry “Sajahitra” Battalion. Five are receiving care at the Camp Navarro General Hospital (CNGH), while four others are admitted to private hospitals in the city for observation and recovery.
During his visit, Nafarrete personally checked on the injured personnel and offered financial assistance to their distressed families. Medical staff at CNGH briefed the Army Chief on the progress of the admitted soldiers.
