Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco reiterated his plea for former Ako-Bicol representative Zaldy Co's passport to be canceled by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
“Now, what I don't understand is why it seems like the DFA or some other branch of the government is still defending Zaldy Co, about why his passport can't be canceled,” Tiangco said Friday in a press conference at the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
This was not the first time that Tiangco has challenged the DFA to restrict Co’s passport. Earlier this week, House Speaker Bojie Dy also sought the newly-installed Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla for the same request.
People, empowered
According to Tiangco, if the government does not take any actions that could bring Co back to the Philippines, it could cause outrage among Filipinos and potentially make them question the investigation’s integrity.
“Let's not test people's patience,” he expressed.
“The sentiment of the people is that they will not accept that Zaldy Co cannot be brought back here,” he added.
Then, Tiangco proceeded to nudge the DFA again by stating that those in authority should understand the call.
