Veteran actress Carmina Villarroel returns to afternoon television with a compelling new role in the upcoming GMA Afternoon Prime series Hating Kapatid. The show also marks a rare on-screen collaboration of the entire Legaspi family—Carmina, Zoren, and their twins Mavy and Cassy—making it one of the network’s most anticipated dramas this season.
During the grand media conference held on October 7, the entertainment press got an exclusive glimpse into the story and its stellar ensemble. Carmina shared insights about her character, Roselle, a mother whose love and sacrifices for her family drive much of the series’ emotional core.
“I play the role of Roselle,” she began. “She’s a simple woman with simple dreams. She’s the kind of mother who will do everything for her children and her family—she keeps them together. She has made mistakes in the past, but she’s trying hard to make things right.”
Carmina revealed that she deeply relates to Roselle’s selflessness and devotion. “Just like Roselle, I would do anything for my children. I think all mothers are like that,” she reflected. “You know the saying, ‘You’d rather give your food to your child than eat it yourself’? That’s exactly how I feel. In that aspect, we’re very much alike.”
Aside from the Legaspis, the series features a powerhouse supporting cast that includes Valerie Concepcion, Cheska Fausto, Vince Maristela, Bobby Andrews, Glenda Garcia, Lovely Rivero, Leandro Baldemor, Chuckie Dreyfus, Faye Lorenzo, and Mercedes Cabral, among others.
With its themes of family, forgiveness, and unconditional love, Hating Kapatidpromises to strike a deep emotional chord with Filipino viewers.
Catch the world premiere of Hating Kapatid on October 13, 2:30 p.m., only on GMA Afternoon Prime.
