Seasoned beauty expert and producer Bambbi Fuentes is once again stepping into the world of cinema with her latest passion project — a psychological suspense thriller tackling the timely and sensitive subject of mental health. Helmed by acclaimed, multi-awarded director Louie Ignacio, the film will star two of Fuentes’ rising protégés: Khai Flores and Shira Tweg, both recent winners at the Star Awards for their breakout performances in Sugat sa Dugo.
From “Sugat sa Dugo” to a new cinematic challenge
Fuentes, who co-produced Sugat sa Dugo with partner Tine, recalled the many lessons she learned during that film’s production at the height of the pandemic.
“Para kaming gumawa ng tatlong pelikula sa hirap,” she admitted. “Dumaan kami sa baptism of fire, but we learned so much — from technical aspects to promotions. All of that experience will definitely guide us in making this new project even stronger.”
Louie Ignacio at the helm
Securing Louie Ignacio to direct was a natural choice for Fuentes.
“We’ve been friends since the Sis days, the Marian Rivera era,” she said. “I believe in his craftsmanship. He’s an artist, and all his movies are award-winning. I know he can make this project not just entertaining, but thrilling and impactful.”
Spotlight on the “Dragon Babies”
The film reunites Fuentes with her “Dragon Babies” — Khai Flores, last year’s Star Awards Best New Male Actor, and Shira Tweg, Best New Female Actress — who will take on challenging roles designed to push their acting range even further.
While plot details remain under wraps, Fuentes hints at a gripping storyline that blends psychological tension with thought-provoking commentary on mental wellness — a combination she hopes will resonate with audiences and spark conversations.
With an award-winning cast, a proven creative partnership, and a director celebrated for his artistry, Bambbi Fuentes’ newest project is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Filipino thrillers in the coming year.
