Looks like love

Some netizens have reason to believe that Atasha and Jacob are no longer in the courtship stage but are already sweethearts, the way Bea Alonzo and tycoon Vincent Co are.

There’s another Pinoy showbiz idol and a son of a super-rich tycoon believed to be playing sweet music together — secretly, as of yet. They are Aga Muhlach’s and Charlene Gonzales’ only daughter Atasha Muhlach and Jacob Ang, the son of business mogul Ramon Ang.

Jacob is an executive of San Miguel Corporation’s car business subsidiaries. No online files reveal his age, though he looks young and movie-star handsome. He has modeled in some famous promotional fashion shows, fully clothed, not in swimwear or underwear, of course.

Netizens have been posting snaps of Atasha and Jacob together since January this year. Jake has been liking Atasha’s promo postings of her showbiz projects. Atasha reacts by liking what Jake has liked. The pair has not admitted anything, of course.

Jake has also been snapped by netizens in the set of Atasha’s tapings of the upcoming series Bad Genius.

Some netizens have reason to believe that Atasha and Jacob are no longer in the courtship stage but are already sweethearts, the way Bea Alonzo and tycoon Vincent Co are. The latter pair is more open to being seen together holding hands.

If having a more or less stable source of income is what matters most for band singer Angelo Miguel, he could have just stayed with InnerVoices, which happens to be among the most long-lived rock bands in the country since the ‘90s. The band is owned by government lawyer Rey “Boying” Bergado, who started the group as an acoustic all-male quartet while he was in college in a Catholic school in Manila (which means the band has changed members over the years, with only Bergado as the only unchanged member).

“To be very truthful about it, I had to get out of InnerVoices after four or five years because if I stayed on with them, I would never be able to record and perform as many of my self-written songs as I want to.

“I want to share with the public a legacy of my rock songs that have social awareness. That having a recorded legacy can’t happen if I am stuck with an already well-established band known for a mixture of genres, or whatever sells well, “ Angelo Miguel intoned.

“Miguel” is not his surname but his second name. He revealed that “De Leon” is his family name and quickly added that his family is not related to any of the famous De Leon families. He does not link his obsession with “leaving a legacy of songs” with his De Leon family being hardly known. But he is not inclined at all to talk about his family. He seems to feel that one should not talk about their parents and siblings when they are already 33 years old and still working on creating a legacy.

He eventually recorded one or two songs in a professional studio with professional sound engineering staff. That means he spent his own money to produce the master tapes.

Innervoices has recorded one of his compositions in 2023: “Isasayaw Kita,” which has won an award from the PMPC Music Awards. It sounds like a love song to a lost partner, but it’s a song about a daughter who died in her infancy. A father laments that vocally soars. He was not married to his daughter’s mother. They eventually broke off.

It was while hanging out at a recording studio that he met someone who had connections with Vicor Records, which had come to be owned by Vic del Rosario again a few years ago. Del Rosario put up Vicor in the ‘70s with cousin singer-musician Orly Ilacad. The company was sold to others when Del Rosario put up Viva Films and eventually Viva Records.

Angelo Miguel auditioned his self-funded records. Del Rosario and his executives liked them.

Miguel happens to have the features and the aura of a movie actor, a sexy actor, in particular. When he posted on FB his contract-signing pics with Viva Artists Agency, some followers needled him about doing a film with VMX, he curtly responded: “Hindi, ah!”

“I was a theater actor in high school and college. I once even played Jesus Christ in the famous musical.  Pero school production lang yon. They took me because they knew I had a band,” he recalled.

He has turned down movie offers from indie companies because “they were too bold for me or too violent.”

Vicor released in various digital outlets four of his compositions as singles: “Magkaibang Mundo,””Perlas ng Silangan”, “Masilayan Ka Lang Muli,” “Mula Ngayon.”
