Time may have passed, but for James Reid, there’s only kindness when it comes to speaking about a chapter once written with Nadine Lustre.
In a recent interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila, the Careless founder and actor candidly opened up when asked about his current dynamic with his former reel-and-real-life partner. The two, famously dubbed “JaDine” by fans, were once one of Philippine showbiz’s most beloved love teams and real-life couples.
“Yeah, I’ve seen her a few times. We’re civil. There’s no problem certainly with me,” James said, his tone calm and sincere.
When asked directly what he would say to Nadine today, his response was brief but genuine: “I wish her all the best. She seems very happy.”
It’s a simple sentiment—but one that resonates with maturity and closure.
James and Nadine announced their breakup in early 2020 after several years of being in a relationship both on and off screen.
While the split initially left fans heartbroken, both stars have since taken steps toward individual growth and reinvention. Nadine returned to her musical roots, delved into indie film projects, and embraced a more grounded, nature-centric lifestyle. James, on the other hand, continued to expand his music label and forged international collaborations under Careless Music.
Despite their romantic past, both artists have demonstrated grace in how they’ve handled public questions about each other—a reflection of how far they’ve come not just as individuals, but as professionals in the spotlight.
In today’s entertainment world, where former couples often struggle with public scrutiny or strained reunions, James and Nadine’s ability to remain respectful and civil is quietly powerful. It’s a testament to how love, even when it ends, can evolve into something more peaceful.
No drama, no bitterness—just two people who once loved each other deeply, now cheering each other on from afar.
