In a time when floodwaters submerged homes and disrupted lives across Quezon City, seasoned actress and producer Sylvia Sanchez proved once again that her compassion runs just as deep as her talent. Teaming up with her son, actor and incumbent First District Representative Arjo Atayde, the mother-and-son tandem brought hot meals and comfort to residents of flood-affected areas in their community.
Braving the rain and wading through waterlogged streets, Sylvia and Arjo personally led the relief efforts, distributing lugaw and sopas — complete with slices of bread — to families left vulnerable by the torrential downpour.
Volunteers from both Sylvia’s foundation and Arjo’s district office joined hands in cooking, packing, and delivering the meals, ensuring help reached even the hardest-hit barangays.
This isn’t the first time the mother and son have joined forces for a cause. Over the past few years, Sylvia has been an active figure in various community outreach programs, often lending her platform and resources to uplift underserved Filipinos. Her collaboration with Arjo reflects a shared advocacy rooted in empathy and action.
