After the iconic Ika-6 na Utos left a trail of viral scenes, legendary lines and countless memes that defined afternoon TV for an entire generation, Gabby Concepcion is back — poised to capture hearts and spark drama once again in GMA’s newest teleserye My Father’s Wife.

A seasoned actor and former matinee idol, Gabby now takes on another challenging role in the GMA Afternoon Prime lineup, co-starring with Kylie Padilla, Kazel Kinouchi and Jak Roberto. The series, directed by Aya Topacio, promises emotional twists, explosive confrontations and a fresh take on love, betrayal and family.

Gabby opened up about his excitement for the project and the joy of stepping into new characters — even after decades in the industry.

“Ito na naman ako, sinasabi ko excited ako. Totoo naman, kasi siyempre kung gumagawa ka ng teleserye, para tayong nasa fantasy land. Ginagampanan mo ‘yung role na hindi ikaw — at maganda rin ‘yun. Minsan nasa imagination lang natin ‘yung mga bagay na ‘yon, pero sa drama, puwedeng maging totoo (It’s me again, I’m saying I’m excited),” Gabby shared with a laugh. (It’s true, because of course when you’re doing a teleserye, it’s like we’re in a fantasy land. You’re playing a role that’s not you — and that’s also beautiful. Sometimes those things are just in our imagination, but in drama, they can be real),” Gabby shared with a laugh.

For Gabby, acting continues to be a space of creativity and transformation. “That’s the beauty of being an artist,” he added. “You portray different roles and you have to make them convincing. That’s the challenge, and that’s what I love about it.”

The buzz for My Father’s Wife is already building, with the release of its first teaser poster featuring Kylie Padilla and Kazel Kinouchi. The gripping caption, “Gaano kasakit pagtaksilan ng kaibigan?” hints at the tangled web of betrayal and emotional intensity viewers can expect.

While the show delves into heavy themes onscreen, Gabby says the atmosphere on set is the opposite — warm, light and filled with camaraderie.

“When we meet on set, we try to break the ice,” he shared. “It’s not that hard because my colleagues are easy to talk to, easy to get along with, and they can tell stories, too. It makes the work lighter.”

From dramatic courtroom showdowns in Ika-6 na Utos to what’s expected to be another gripping performance in My Father’s Wife, Gabby Concepcion continues to evolve as one of GMA’s most bankable lead men. His ability to breathe life into complex characters — and connect with audiences across generations — has kept him a compelling figure on screen.

Catch Gabby Concepcion in My Father’s Wife Premiering 23 June after It’s Showtime on GMA Afternoon Prime. Don’t miss this much-anticipated return to form from one of Philippine television’s enduring icons.
