Vice President Sara Duterte did not hold back in criticizing President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s administration during a pro-Duterte rally held in Melbourne, Australia, on Sunday, 22 June.
Duterte said the country remains unprepared to face war, adapt to change, or absorb global shocks, issues she attributed to what she called a lack of clear leadership and direction from the current administration.
"Unfortunately, I did not bet properly with my running mate," Duterte said, reflecting on her 2022 partnership with Marcos. "But you know, I’m sure you have doubts with the Marcoses already."
Despite the rift, Duterte drew a distinction between the President and his sister, Senator Imee Marcos. “Senator Imee Marcos is a different individual altogether, and she has been my friend since 2012. I met BBM in 2020 when they visited Davao City,” she added.
The Vice President also called for more assertive public pressure to steer the government in the right direction.
