On the heels of their second pairing on TV, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim (a Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean series), Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino are all poised to star in their third series, The Alibi.
The announcement came Wednesday, 18 June, from Dreamscape Entertainment about the new KimPau show, which is a mystery-suspense-romance drama series.
The teaser shows Avelino’s investigative reporter character Vincent Cabrera, while Chiu’s character is Stella Marie Morales. For her role, Chiu, professional that she is, agreed to have her long mane cut short. Entertainment TV reporter MJ Felipe even witnessed the haircut.
The Alibi reunited Chiu and Avelino with their Linlang directors FM Reyes and Jojo Saguin.
Maris Racal and housemates
collab in new duo song
Incognito star Maris Racal tremendously enjoyed her short stint as a house guest of Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition as it entailed writing a song.
Racal and the PBB housemates were tasked to collaborate in a song that will encapsulate the experiences of the housemates as duos while inside the PBB House.
Living up to the challenge, Racal and the housemates started composing a ditty where the Sunshine star played the guitar as accompaniment.
In the end, they were able to come up with a song titled “Awit ng Dalawa” which they later performed in the show.
Incidentally, Racal’s forthcoming movie, Sunshine, garnered three million views in all social media platforms. It’s showing in the country starting 23 July.
Emilio Daez’s ‘dream come true’
For Emilio Daez, playing Uno Santillan, a basketball varsity captain at Brixton High then a volleyball player in Love at First Spike, is a “dream come true”.
“This is a dream come true for me because this is my first lead role ever. I’ve always dreamed of being a leading man. I am happy. I’m humbled to be given this opportunity and I know the amount of dedication and dedication it needs, it takes to lead a series,” he said during the mediacon for the series, Wednesday, 18 June.
A younger brother of Mikael Daez who worked as an investment banker for two years before showbiz beckoned, the neophyte has already appeared in the Piolo Pascual series, Pamilya Sagrado.
Coming right on the heels of his stint at Pinoy Big Brother Collab Celebrity Edition, Daez is not at all pressured to be leading the series.
“I guess when it comes to pressure after PBB, I don’t think there’s any pressure naman. I put a lot of pressure for myself. I’m excited for everyone to see the fruits of our labor because everyone worked very, very hard and I’m just very, very grateful for this opportunity,” Daez explained.
“Uno’s journey here is an eye-opener for everyone because he will act like a bridge between the (gay) community and the heterosexual community,” he said of his character.
In the series, tension builds up between Uno and Jared (Sean Tristan), his former best friend. They must navigate their past in order to reign supreme in volleyball.
It doesn’t help that Farrah (Reign Parani), Jared’s cousin and volleyball team captain, develops feelings for Uno, thereby threatening her relationship with her cousin.
Directed by Ivan Payawal, Love at First Spike, an eight-episode series, will premiere on iWant starting 20 June.
