As Filipino audiences seek out stories that reflect courage, resilience and hope, Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre reasserts its relevance by redefining what it means to be powerful, to protect and to rise.
GMA Network’s legendary fantasy franchise takes flight once more with Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre, premiering this 16 June on GMA Prime and GMA Kapuso Stream.
The series builds upon a rich legacy of elemental power, political intrigue and enduring sisterhood. As a fresh chapter begins, as the mythical world of Encantadia collides with the human realm — giving rise to a new breed of heroes and villains.
New heroes
At the center of this long-awaited continuation is Bianca Umali as Terra, the newest Sang’gre and bearer of the Earth Gem. Born of the noble Danaya and a mortal named Theo, Terra was raised in the human world unaware of her royal lineage. As the world teeters on the edge of chaos, she embraces her destiny — not just as a Sang’gre, but also as a superhero cloaked in mystery and might.
Joining her are Faith da Silva as the fiery Sang’gre Flamarra, guardian of the Fire Gem; Angel Guardian as Deia, a kind-hearted “honorary” Sang’gre and protector of the Air Gem from Mine-a-ve; and Kelvin Miranda as Adamus, the Water Gem keeper from Lireo and Adamya. They form the next generation of elemental warriors, heirs to the legendary protectors who came before.
New evil
Threatening their quest for peace is Mitena, the Ice Princess of Mine-a-ve turned Lireo’s ruthless new queen, portrayed by Rhian Ramos. Born of bitterness and driven by vengeance, Mitena wields the chilling power of ice — and an ambition to unravel the order of Encantadia itself. As alliances form and legacies are tested, the battle between light and darkness surges with new intensity.
Homecoming of legends
For loyal Encantadiks, the return of the 2016 core cast — Glaiza de Castro (Pirena), Kylie Padilla (Amihan), Sanya Lopez (Danaya) and Gabbi Garcia (Alena) — marks a poignant reunion. These icons pass the torch to the next generation while continuing to shape the realm they once fiercely defended.
Expanding the universe
Sang’gre delves deeper than ever into the lore of Encantadia, unveiling the kingdom of Mine-a-ve and introducing a host of new characters portrayed by Gabby Eigenmann, Bianca Manalo, Jon Lucas, Mika Salamanca and more.
From the human world, veteran actors Manilyn Reynes, Ricky Davao, Buboy Garovillo, Benjie Paras and Sherilyn Reyes-Tan add gravitas to the growing multiverse, while Solenn Heusaff returns as Cassiopea, and Luis Hontiveros, Cheska Inigo and Gab Gueco lead the mythic beings of the old realm.
Adding to the star power are special appearances from a constellation of Kapuso talents including Ruru Madrid, Michelle Dee, Mikee Quintos, Lexi Gonzales and many more — cementing the show as one of the most ambitious fantasy productions in recent Philippine television history.
Power in storytelling
Produced by the GMA Entertainment Group under the guidance of Cheryl Ching-Sy, Ali Nokom-Dedicatoria and Camille Hermoso-Hafezan, the series is shepherded by creative director Aloy Adlawan with storytelling pillars Suzette Doctolero, Onay Sales-Camero and National Artist Ricky Lee contributing to its powerful narrative.
Under the direction of Rico Gutierrez and Enzo Williams, Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre promises not only stunning visuals and high fantasy, but deeper reflections on power, identity and the strength found in family and unity.
