In observance of Holy Week, partylist group Kaunlad Pinoy, listed as #133 on the ballot, encouraged Filipinos on Black Saturday to find strength, peace and a renewed purpose in faith, reflection and compassion — values that it believes go hand in hand with service to others.

While the group is best known for championing entrepreneurship and livelihood empowerment, its leaders emphasize that true success is rooted in strong spiritual grounding and a life guided by purpose.

At the forefront of this message is Kuya Choi, the group’s first nominee and founding leader, who reminded supporters and the broader public of the deeper meaning of the sacred time.

“A blessed Holy Week to everyone. May this be a time of reflection, prayer, and returning to God. Let us remember the sacrifice of Jesus for our salvation and strive to live according to His teachings,” Kuya Choi said. “May we be blessed with peace, love, and faith in this sacred season of remembrance.”

“In this commemoration of Holy Week, may we be filled with compassion, faith and love,” Kuya Choi continued. “Let us remember the great sacrifice of Jesus and live out His teachings. All our aspirations in livelihood are guided and blessed by Him.”

Over the past year, Kaunlad Pinoy has traveled across the country to connect with communities, offering support to small entrepreneurs, market vendors and informal business owners through training sessions, financial literacy and livelihood kits. But the group said that Holy Week is a time to step back — not from service, but from the noise — and recommit themselves to the values that truly matter.

As the country prepared to celebrate Easter Sunday, Kaunlad Pinoy reaffirmed its vision: that no Filipino should be left behind in the pursuit of a better life — and that true progress is built not just on business acumen, but on faith, unity, and the desire to lift each other up.
