President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. celebrated Juan Ponce Enrile’s 101st birthday.
Enrile, also known as JPE, is Marcos’ Chief Presidential Legal Counsel whose birthday also falls on Valentine’s Day.
“Today, we celebrate a man and his life — a life that, by any measure, has been truly well-lived,” he said in his message.
Marcos described Enrile as a statesman, a legal luminary and an exemplary public servant who “has not only witnessed history but has actively shaped it."
He also noted the wealth of wisdom and experience that Enrile has gained and shared to his allies Marcos.
“The fact that his natal day coincides with Valentine’s Day reminds us that the sharpness of his mind is equaled only by the warmth of his heart for the Filipino people,” Marcos said.
“Happy Birthday, Secretary Tata Johnny Ponce Enrile! We are truly blessed to have you on our team as our Chief Presidential Legal Counsel,” he added.
JPE has served both Marcos administration and was a key figure during and after the events of the administration of Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
