A resident of Navotas City was arrested in the early hours of Friday for allegedly provoking a fistfight and brandishing a firearm, instilling fear in his neighborhood.

In a report submitted to Navotas City Police Chief, Police Colonel Mario Cortes, the accused was arrested by officers of the North Bay Boulevard Police while they were conducting patrols and enforcing a local ordinance.

"He was acting like he was looking for a fight in the area last night, saying, 'Who’s the toughest here?' while holding his gun,” Police Staff Sergeant Sammy Llanderal, an investigator with the Navotas City Police, said.

Llanderal added that upon interrogation, the suspect was found to be intoxicated.

The police investigator further stated that the suspect admitted to using illegal drugs in the past; however, no illicit substances were found in his possession.

Additionally, he has no prior police record.

Authorities recovered a .45 caliber firearm with a magazine loaded with two rounds of ammunition.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Navotas City Police Station and is set for an inquest proceeding. He will face charges for violations of Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code, or Alarms and Scandals, and Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
