The Broadway diva is back in her element! After six years, renowned singer and actress Lea Salonga is set to enchant audiences once again with her iconic singing voice as she takes on the role of The Witch in the much-anticipated production of Into the Woods.
This exciting announcement came after Theater Group Asia (TGA) revealed on Friday that Salonga will play the role. "She’s good, she’s nice, she’s more just right. LEA SALONGA IS THE WITCH!" they captioned a Facebook post.
The musical, written by Stephen Sondheim, follows the story of a childless couple cursed by a witch, exploring the complexities of wishes and their consequences. It intertwines the stories of several fairy tales, including Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack and the Beanstalk.
Salonga, who gained international fame for her roles in Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, is expected to bring her exceptional vocal talents and acting skills to this classic tale.
The musical will be staged by TGA at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati.
