Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, vice chair of the Senate Finance Committee and a member of the Committee on Cultural Communities, shared his efforts to push for funding for programs that will directly benefit Filipino Muslims.

Go actively pushed for increased allocations for the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) to provide essential assistance to Hajj pilgrims and enhance the overall welfare of Muslim communities in the country.

Go’s initiative aims to expand the support mechanisms for Hajj pilgrims, particularly through subsidies and logistical assistance. These measures seek to lessen the financial burden on Filipino Muslims fulfilling one of their key religious obligations. In addition, the funding will address broader community programs to ensure their inclusion in national development efforts.

The senator underscored the necessity of prioritizing the Muslim Filipino community in the 2025 budget. The additional funding for the NCMF will include allocations for various programs, including scholarships, community development and healthcare initiatives.

He also emphasized the role of these initiatives in promoting unity and mutual respect among different sectors of Philippine society. By ensuring Muslim Filipinos receive adequate support, Go believes the government can foster an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
