President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday led the inauguration of the Universal Robina Corporation’s (URC) 10-hectare flour milling plant in Sariaya, Quezon.

In his speech, Marcos recognized the facility as a “milestone that will shape the future of the Philippine food industry.”

He also highlighted the URC’s vital role in bolstering food security, economic stability, and innovation in the country.

“In a time when every grain counts, this establishment will aid in ensuring that our people have the resources they need to nourish themselves and the future of our nation,” Marcos said.

“With this new plant, the URC has positioned itself as a key player in our nation’s food security, driving economic stability and innovation,” he added.

According to Marcos, the URC’s state-of-the-art facility will significantly increase flour production in the province by producing 3,500 metric tons daily.

He added that this capacity is expected to meet the growing demands of the local market while ensuring the availability of high-quality food products for Filipinos.

Marcos recognized the URC’s commitment to sustainability and innovation and integrated advanced technologies, aimed at reducing waste, enhancing operational efficiency, and minimizing its carbon footprint.

He also highlighted the plant’s role in addressing the country’s nutritional needs and reducing environmental impact.

“The inauguration of URC’s flour milling plant represents a significant step forward for the Philippine food industry, ensuring greater food security and reaffirming the nation’s capacity for sustainable and innovative growth,” Marcos stressed.
