Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT), the fully automated terminal operated by International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) at the Port of Melbourne, has received official approval to conduct 14.4 Rural Tailgate Inspections. This approval allows VICT to enhance biosecurity compliance for sea containers bound for rural areas across Victoria.
The Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry recently extended the policy for Approved Arrangement class 14.4, enabling VICT to perform these crucial inspections directly at Webb Dock. On-site inspections simplify the import process by reducing the need for additional container transfers, resulting in time and cost savings for the Victorian supply chain.
For customs brokers, importers, and biosecurity participants, VICT’s service eliminates the need for off-site container transfers for biosecurity clearance. Containers heading to rural Victoria can now undergo required checks on-site at VICT, allowing faster release and reducing logistics costs.
VICT’s certified team is equipped to handle diverse container types, including dry boxes, reefers, open tops, and ISO tankers, ensuring compliance with biosecurity standards.
