BAGUIO CITY — A very low 8-degree Celsius brought frost to a garden area in Atok, Benguet on Friday morning.
Pictures and videos of the frost or “andap” were posted in social media by farmer PJ Haight. The frost covered several of their produce and some plants in their farmland.
The incident according to Haight is normal and the farmers who are used to it already adapted and know how to handle such to prevent damages to their produce.
The “andap” season in Benguet is expected to intensify towards February as temperature continually drops.
Farmers made an appeal to markets in the lowlands not to take advantage of the “andap” to justify their increasing of the prices of vegetables especially the produce coming from Benguet and the rest of Cordillera Region.
