Singapore’s iconic landmark Sentosa Merlion statue will be demolished to give way to a $90 million infrastructure project, according to Straits Times.

The 37-meter tall Merlion statue, located at the heart of Sentosa island will be put down to give way to an infrastructure project called Sentosa Sensoryscape, a themed linkway which will connect the north and south shores of the island.

The so called Sentosa-Brani Master Plan was first announced by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during his National Day Rally speech last month.

The public is urged to visit Sentosa Merlion before it halts its operations on 20 October 2019.
