The Philippine National Police (PNP) is pushing to equip more police officers with the skills needed to handle cybercrime complaints, preserve digital evidence and assist victims of online scams.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered an assessment of cybercrime training gaps across police units, aiming to strengthen frontline responses to increasingly sophisticated digital threats.

The directive follows the National Police Commission's (Napolcom) proposal to integrate cybercrime education into criminology courses, police training programs and the Philippine National Police Academy curriculum.

Nartatez also encouraged victims of online fraud to report incidents and preserve evidence to help authorities investigate cybercrime cases.
