CALACA CITY, Batangas — A steel plant worker died after suffering severe burns in an industrial accident at SteelAsia Manufacturing Inc. in Barangay Salong here on Friday afternoon.

According to the Calaca City Police Station, the incident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. on 25 September While the victim, a crane mechanical technician, was attending to a mechanical malfunction involving a ladle crane.

Initial investigation showed that the worker was performing repairs when the ladle containing molten steel accidentally fell onto the pavement, causing the molten material to spill onto him.

The victim sustained severe burns and died from his injuries.

Police received a report about the accident from a company employee at about 7 p.m.

Authorities said SteelAsia Manufacturing Corp. had committed to shoulder the victim’s burial expenses and provide benefits and financial assistance to his family.

The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation and subject to further verification.
