Two fishermen were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) after going missing on the waters of Balayan Bay, Batangas on 20 August 2026.
According to the fishermen, they encountered engine trouble around 3am of 20 August while on their way home from fishing, preventing them from sailing.
Due to a lack of communication equipment, their plight was not immediately reported.
After 20 hours, around 11:30 pm, the two were spotted by fellow fishermen at the waters near Barangay Anak Dagat in the town of Lemery and were immediately reported. The PCB then went to the area and rescued the two.
After being checked by the Barangay Health Workers, the two fishermen were confirmed to be healthy and without any injury.
The PCG reminded fishermen to always being proper communication equipment and other necessities when going to a fishing expedition.
