Watsons Philippines recently partnered with Mober to introduce electric trucks into its logistics operations, taking a step toward reducing carbon emissions from the delivery of health, beauty and wellness products. The initiative also explores a cleaner future for logistics as businesses look for practical alternatives amid changing fuel costs.

The partnership currently has four Mober electric trucks supporting Watsons Philippines deliveries, with plans to expand the fleet in the coming years. During a three-month test run from March to May 2026, the electric trucks completed 109 delivery trips, contributing to an estimated 656 kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions saved.

By the end of 2026, Watsons Philippines aims for electric trucks to handle at least 10 percent of its total Metro Manila logistics operations. The initiative is expected to eventually expand to the Visayas and Mindanao, supporting the company’s nationwide reach.

For Sharon Decapia, senior assistant vice president for Marketing and Sustainability of Watsons Philippines, the partnership shows how sustainability can become part of everyday business operations. Using electric trucks helps reduce carbon emissions while keeping health, beauty and wellness products moving to stores and customers.

The shift is also changing who gets to participate in the logistics industry. Mober CEO Dennis Ng highlighted the company’s support for diversity and women empowerment, including women taking on truck-driving roles. Some women drivers are expected to be deployed for Watsons Philippines deliveries, offering a different picture of an industry traditionally associated with men.

Watsons Philippines managing director Danilo Chiong said the company sees an opportunity to continue expanding the initiative beyond Metro Manila. For the company, the goal is not simply to introduce electric vehicles, but to explore how sustainable practices can become part of long-term business operations.

That commitment also extends to customers.

Watsons Philippines encourages shoppers to make more sustainable choices through refill packs, reusable bags and recycling initiatives. Refill options can help reduce the need for new packaging, while bringing a reusable bag can lessen the use of single-use bags during shopping trips.

Even a P1 paper bag purchase can contribute to community health efforts. Proceeds from paper bag purchases support medical missions and health-related programs across the Philippines, turning a simple checkout choice into support for communities in need.

These efforts show that sustainability does not have to be limited to large environmental projects. It can be part of how products are delivered, how customers shop and what happens to packaging after use.
