CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Two members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) have surrendered separately in Bukidnon, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Saturday, as the government continues efforts to encourage armed group members to abandon the armed struggle and return to their communities.
The two surrendered on 14 August, in Don Carlos and Malaybalay City, according to the PNP.
In Don Carlos, alias “Dodong,” 42, a farmer and resident of Bukidnon, surrendered to personnel of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and Kibawe Municipal Police Station, with support from intelligence and maneuver units.
He was identified as a former member of the dismantled Guerrilla Front 53 of the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee and was listed under the Non-Periodic Status Report.
In a separate operation in Malaybalay City, alias “Rapid,” 53, a married resident of Bukidnon, surrendered during Minor Internal Security Operation Oplan “ARIS” in Barangay Zamboanguita.
He was identified as a former member of the Special Regional Strike and Development Group under Sub-Regional Committee 2 of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
Choosing a different path
Both men are now under government custody for processing and reintegration interventions, the PNP said.
Their surrender, the police said, reflects the government’s efforts to provide former armed group members with a lawful path toward peaceful reintegration and productive community life.
