Authorities have recovered items believed to have been left behind by members of a communist terrorist group (CTG) in Barangay Kabayunan, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, following security operations on Friday, the Philippine Army said.
Troops from the 70th Infantry Battalion of the 7th Infantry Division, operating under the supervision of Joint Task Group 7-2, conducted the operation after receiving information from a concerned citizen.
The tip led soldiers to various items believed to have been used by the dismantled Komiteng Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (KRGL) and KLG Narciso. Recovered were a plastic gallon and a Wilkins container, both containing rice, as well as an M16A1 lower receiver with serial number RP 181892 and an M16A1 rifle barrel.
Military officials said the discovery reflects the continued weakening of CTG logistical support and armed capability in the area, a result of sustained security operations and growing cooperation from local communities. The items were believed to have been abandoned as government pressure prevented CTG remnants from regrouping or restoring their former strength.
Brigadier General Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, commander of Joint Task Group 7-2, credited the operation’s success to close coordination among military units and the support of civilians.
“The information provided by a concerned citizen significantly contributed to the recovery of firearm components and logistical supplies belonging to the dismantled KRGL and KLG Narciso. This further confirms that these groups no longer have the capability to carry out organized armed activities,” Osias said.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting information that could help prevent the resurgence of armed groups.
The Philippine Army said it will continue security operations in close coordination with local government units and partner agencies to help ensure lasting peace and stability in Bulacan and nearby areas.
