A 44-year-old man was arrested for alleged indiscriminate firing and illegal possession of a firearm in Barangay Western Bicutan, Taguig City, on Monday evening.

Police identified the suspect as alias Estelito, a cook and resident of the area.

At around 6:40 p.m., personnel of the Taguig City Police Station Substation 2 responded to a report from the Western Bicutan Barangay Hall about indiscriminate firing along Champaca Street, Sitio Niño.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly spotted the suspect openly holding a firearm. Police said he failed to present a license or permit for the weapon and was immediately arrested.

Authorities recovered an unnumbered .38-caliber revolver, two live rounds of ammunition and one spent cartridge.

The suspect will undergo inquest proceedings before the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
