Heart Evangelista has never been afraid to look back on the chapters of her life that helped shape the woman she is today. This time, the actress and fashion icon shared a surprising story involving heartbreak, an extravagant gift and her decision to turn something from the past into an act of giving.

During an episode of her GMA game show The People Have Spoken, Heart was confronted with a hypothetical question about what someone should do with gifts from an unfaithful former partner following a difficult breakup.

The question prompted Heart to recall a deeply personal experience involving a former boyfriend who had once given her an elaborate diamond ring.

“Masyadong personal pero ibibigay ko, show naman natin ’to,” Heart said before sharing the story.

According to Heart, the man had made a proposal of sorts, although she clarified that it was not an official engagement. He presented her with a heart-shaped piece made from three diamonds.

“Merong nag-propose sa akin dati. Hindi naman siya official na [proposal] pero binigyan niya ako ng heart na diamond. Tatlong diamond na [pinagsama-sama para sa] illusion na heart,” she recalled.

But when the relationship eventually fell apart, the jewelry became tied to memories Heart no longer wanted to hold on to.

“Sobrang heartbroken ko, pinamigay ko siya sa charity,” she revealed.

Another gift from the same relationship met a different fate. Heart jokingly admitted that she decided to sell a necklace the former boyfriend had given her.

“Yung isang necklace na binigay niya sa akin, binenta ko. Charot,” she quipped.

Heart did not disclose the identity of the former boyfriend behind the jewelry, keeping that part of the story private.

The revelation offered another glimpse into how Heart has processed past relationships with a combination of candor and humor. In previous interviews, she has described herself as naturally generous when in love, admitting that giving has long been one of the ways she expresses affection.

Years after those earlier chapters, Heart has found a different understanding of love with her husband, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero. The two married in 2015 and returned to Balesin Island in 2024 to renew their vows.

During their vow renewal, Heart reflected on how her perspective had evolved through the years, saying, “I knew what love was before, but now I know what love should be.”
