  • First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos on Sunday led the opening of the ASEAN Cultural Center at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila. “So happy to see the ASEAN Cultural Center open its door — a beautiful new home for our shared stories, traditions, and friendships,” Mrs. Marcos said in a Facebook post.

Every ASEAN member state that hosts ASEAN events establishes its own ASEAN Cultural Center.

“As we welcome our ASEAN neighbors to the Philippines, I hope this becomes a place where we can learn from one another, celebrate what makes each of us unique, and discover all that brings us together,” she said.

The ASEAN Cultural Center serves as a hub that brings together the stories, unique identities, and rich cultural heritage of all 10 ASEAN member countries, beautifully showcased through cutting-edge multimedia technology, according to the ASEAN official portal.

Since its official launch in August 2015, the ASEAN Cultural Center has served as a regional hub for fostering understanding and appreciation of ASEAN’s shared cultural heritage, with meticulously curated exhibitions that showcase the region’s rich history, vibrant traditions, and diverse cultural expressions.

In addition to the interactive exhibits, the ASEAN Cultural Center, through its captivating exhibitions and enriching cultural events, plays a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting this culinary tapestry, ensuring that future generations can continue to cherish the unique flavors and traditions that make ASEAN cuisines truly exceptional.
