One of Philippine entertainment’s most beloved screen pairings is set to charm audiences once again as Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin reunite for TV5’s upcoming morning series, “Mommy Guard.”

The highly anticipated family comedy-romance marks another milestone for the enduring tandem, whose popularity began in the 1990s and continues to resonate with audiences decades later. Joining them in the cast is Dominic Ochoa, with Roman Perez Jr. serving as director. The series is slated to premiere in September 2026.

For Jolina, the biggest reward is seeing how their fan base has grown across generations.

“Kami ni Marvin natutuwa kami kasi iyung mga nagmahal sa amin noong 90’s ay nagmamahal pa rin hanggang ngayon at may bago na iyung mga anak na nila ay minamahal na kami.”

She also shared that every reunion gives them the opportunity to present a fresh version of their partnership while keeping the nostalgia alive.

“Nakakatuwa kapag nakikita kasi nila ni Marvin throwback. Nostalgia, yes, pero every time kaming magkakasama ni Marvin at every time na may project kaming gagawin ay excited kami kasi bago ang ipinapakita namin as Marvin-Jolina and as MarJo.”

While fans continue to celebrate their undeniable chemistry, Marvin admitted that working closely with Jolina still brings unexpected emotions.

“Iyan ang pinaka-mahirap na pinagdaraanan ko tuwing magkaka-trabaho kami, kasi nga kanina nga lang na kumakanta lang… Hirap na.”

Reflecting on their decades-long partnership, Marvin recalled a recent photoshoot that reminded them how much time has passed—and how little their bond has changed.

“Noong nagpi-pictorial nga kami at ang cute cute namin, sabi ko nga kay Jolina, ‘Alam mo ba na mag-50 na tayo in two years?’ And iyung pagmamahal, ayun nga ang sabi ni Jolina, I guess yun ang hindi magbabago. Mahal na mahal namin ang isa’t isa mapa-personal man o trabaho. And that’s something, I guess, kaya iyung magic na natutuwa kami, that we enjoy every time we perform, ay andoon pa rin.”

Jolina believes that preserving what audiences have always loved about their tandem also means allowing it to grow with the times.

“Natutuwa ako kasi pag nakikita nila ang Marvin-Jolina talagang andoon ang saya sa puso nila at ayaw naming mawala iyun ni Marvin. Pero gusto rin namin iparamdam sa mga nanonood na ang aming samahan ay napapanahon and nag-evolve din.”

With “Mommy Guard,” Jolina and Marvin are not simply revisiting the partnership that made them household names. Instead, they are introducing a more mature and evolving version of their onscreen relationship—one that honors the past while embracing a new generation of viewers who are only beginning to discover the enduring magic of MarJo.
