  • Authorities responded quickly to a reported shooting threat at the Malaybalay City National Science High School in Barangay Aglayan, Malaybalay City on 5 August.

School Principal Pastor Abejuela confirmed that a Grade 7 student received a message via social media messenger warning of a possible shooting incident scheduled for the same day. The message spread rapidly among students, causing alarm and concern among parents.

Personnel of the Malaybalay City Police Station immediately deployed to the campus to secure the area and verify the threat.

No classes were officially suspended, but many parents personally came to the school to fetch their children and bring them home out of precaution.

Police, particularly the Cybercrime Investigation Unit, are now conducting a full investigation to trace the source of the threatening message. This marks the second security threat received by the school this year; an unidentified individual also sent a bomb threat on 27 July.

Principal Abejuela assured the public that the school maintains close coordination with the PNP and Barangay Public Safety Officers to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
