Five barangays in the town of Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat have experienced massive flooding due to continuous torrential rain and the rise of water at the Tran River and Kidayan River on 23 July 2026.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Response and Management Office (MDRRMO) Palimbang, these barangays who are affected by flash floods include Barangay Butril, Barangay Colobe, Barangay Kulong-kulong, Barangay Libwa, and Barangay Kabuling after the Tran River overflowed.
Nearby barangays such as Banbanon, Kidayan, and Batang Baglas are also threatened to experience flooding as the water in Kidayan River continue to rise.
A pre-emptive evacuation was conducted earlier for the elderly and the children of the residents in nearby house in the said rivers, while the MDRRMO, PNP, and BFP Palimbang are on full alert to respond to any possible incident or disaster.
The MDDRMO are urging residents to stay alert and evacuate if necessary, and always check for updates from the local government and other agencies.
